One may assume that a makeup aficionado like myself would have a complex makeup routine. Contrary to that well-reasoned assumption, I take a very simple approach on an everyday basis. Since starting college, getting sleep has become a higher priority than waking at the crack of dawn to put on a face of makeup. That might have been a slight exaggeration, but nonetheless, I do not have an extensive period of time to get ready in the mornings. With that being said, I do prefer to leave the house a bit more put together than completely barefaced. Lately, I’ve been reaching for the same reliable products to achieve an effortless and minimal makeup look.
Maybelline SuperStay 24 Hour Makeup - This has quickly become one of my favorite foundations. I presumed it would be comparable to my much-loved Revlon ColorStay foundation, but I don't find them to be similar. This foundation offers medium coverage and covers my visible acne scarring.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Brightening Eye Perfector - I use this as an undereye concealer and it works well considering I do not suffer with dark circles (knock on wood). It is a two-in-one product, concealing my dark circles while simultaneously brightening my under-eye area.
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder - It has been insanely hot in the south, so setting my makeup with a powder is not a step I can afford to skip. This has been the only powder I have used for the past three years. It mattifies my skin without giving me a cake face.
MAC Cremeblend Blush in Ladyblush - Putting on blush is my favorite step of my makeup routine. Cream blush is the way to go in the summer, as well as year-round. This blush withstands the sweltering heat and lasts all day. It's perfect for giving my cheeks a subtle, natural flush.
Revlon Lash Curler - I cannot put on mascara without first curling my lashes. Revlon eyelash curlers are the only ones I've used, and they work well for the price. I do plan on purchasing a more "fancy" eyelash curler in the future.
Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara/Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara - I don't love either of these mascaras. They are not holy grail products, but I don't need to have the false lash effect when going to class. I've been layering these together to get my desired look. In case you were curious, my favorite mascara is the L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara.
C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve - I don't find it necessary to wear lipstick or lipgloss to class, so a lip balm is just enough for adding a bit of gloss to my lips and keeping them moisturized. This is the only lip product I wear on most days. It is an easy product to use and I can apply it without a mirror - how convenient!
This routine is as simple as it gets! It takes me no longer than five minutes each morning, which I appreciate because I love my beauty sleep (there is such a thing!). The best part is that almost all of the products are from the drugstore!
